• At least 1 week prior: No smoking one week before or after.
• 3 days before: No alcohol up to the time of the procedure.

This is an outpatient procedure performed in our office and requires only a local anesthetic. The patient feels virtually no pain. Some patients can experience minor discomfort and swelling post-procedure, which subsides in one to three days—a much faster recovery than other methods.

With the WAW DUO system, the procedure typically takes 5 to 7 hours, depending on the number of grafts needed and your individual treatment plan. While it’s a manual technique—not robotic—the WAW DUO is engineered for efficiency and precision, allowing our team to work swiftly without compromising graft quality. You’ll be able to relax comfortably during the procedure, and most patients are surprised at how smooth and streamlined the process feels from start to finish.

Following your procedure, you should avoid anything that will cause unnecessary sweating such as strenuous exercise, steam rooms, and saunas. Don’t consume alcohol for at least one week to help transplanted grafts heal quickly, and try your best not to touch the newly transplanted hair with either hands or combs.

Once the hair follicles have been implanted, the grafted hair will stay in place for about two to three weeks before shedding. Don’t worry! This is normal and an important part of the new growth process. After shedding, the new growth will begin in three to four months and your hair should continue to grow normally. Keep in mind that individual results and timelines may vary for each patient.
